Dear colleagues,
we (Pierre Faux and Bertrand Servin) would like to advertise a fully funded
PhD opportunity to work on statistical approaches to infer recent
demography of livestock populations. The objective of the project is to
evaluate recent methods based on reconstructing Ancestral Recombination
Graphs or deep learning for demographic inference in particular in the
light of known genealogical information. The data application focus will be
on Sheep and Goat populations.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in population genetics/genomics, bioinformatics or applied
statistics.
- Skills: programming in a Linux environment in Python, R or Matlab.
Experience with using and developing deep learning methods will be appreciated.
The position is open until filled and the start date of the PhD is no later than
December 2025.
