Dear all,

We are thrilled to announce that ngela Cnovas (Centre for Genetic
Improvement of Livestock, University of Guelph, Guelph, ON, Canada) will be
the speaker for the upcoming talk of the #animal-genomics Special Interest
Group, taking place next Wednesday, June 18, at 16:00 CEST.

Dr. Cnovas is Full Professor at the University of Guelph, specializing in
animal genomics and bioinformatics. Her research focuses on the genetic
improvement of livestock through advanced genomic and computational
approaches. Dr. Cnovas is internationally recognized for her
contributions to the understanding of complex traits in farm animals.

Find below the abstract of her talk entitled "Multi-OMICs integration
approach to breed healthier and more sustainable animals":

Sustainable livestock systems offer long-term benefits by optimizing
environmental impact, economic efficiency, and animal health. Implementing
better breeding strategies can help to address critical challenges in
agricultural sustainability, particularly in increasing feed efficiency
(FE) and reducing greenhouse gas (e.g. methane) emissions from livestock
production while improving health and reproduction using new multi-OMICs
integrative approach. Given the urgency of achieving Net Zero emissions in
agriculture by 2050, as outlined by the United Nations, we explore how
cutting-edge genetic and genomic technology research can contribute to this
global goal.

The nf-core #animal-genomics group is an open group for anyone interested
in using/developing nf-core tools tailored for animal genomics. It provides
a collaborative space to share expertise, troubleshoot, and stay updated
with the latest developments. For more information about it please watch
