Subject: Two Open Positions at the Center for Animal Breeding and
Genetics, KU Leuven, Belgium – PhD and Postdoc
Date: Mon, 16 Jun 2025 08:04:21 -0500
Dear colleagues,
We currently have two open positions at the Center for Animal Breeding and
Genetics, KU Leuven, Belgium.
1) PhD Student (4 years) Genomics for Sustainable Sheep Breeding This
project aims to enhance the sustainability of Flemish sheep farming by
selecting for resistance to gastrointestinal parasites while conserving
genetic diversity. It leverages innovative genomic technologies and IT
applications for large-scale data collection.
2) Postdoctoral Researcher (up to 3 years) Genomics for Welfare-Driven
Livestock Breeding This project focuses on four genetic conditions (three
in pigs, one in cattle) that impact animal health and productivity.
Building on previous research identifying key genomic regions and
candidate genes, the project will use advanced genomic sequencing to
pinpoint causal variants and understand the biological mechanisms of these
disorders.
For a detailed description of both job offers, please visit:
